Itís with great pleasure that I am sending this message at the inauguration of the South Asian Academy for Good governance (SAAGG) scheduled for August 2007. Awarding certificates, diplomas, degrees, doctorates and other titles to suitable persons based on their merits, work experience, education, studies and research activities is an interesting idea.

The initiator of this Academy, Samadeepa Samaja Kendraya is one of the first to implement Village Self - Governance programmes. Therefore  I have no doubt that this effort will be a great success.

Good governance is a crucial issue today both nationally and internationally. It is very timely the issue has been selected  as the focal point of activities of the proposed institution. I am sure people belonging to different sectors; religious dignitaries, political leaders, trade union activists; business leaders and civil society activists will receive benefits from this programme.

In the circumstances I am happy to record my sincere blessings and request all concerned to extend their fullest corporation for this new  venture.
