Message from the Prime Minister, the Hon. Ratnasiri Wickramanayake., MP
Itís with great pleasure that I am sending this message for the inauguration of the South Asian Academy for Good Governance (SAAGG ) scheduled for August 2007. I am indeed happy that it is located in Anuradhapura, which needs greater attention in the fields of development and education. Awarding certificates, diplomas, degrees, doctorates and other titles to suitable persons based on their merits, work experience, education, study and research activities is a good idea in this context.
Good governance is a crucial issue today both nationally and internationally. It is timely the issue has been selected as the focal point of activities of the proposed institution. I am sure people belonging to many sectors, religious dignitaries, political leaders, trade union activists, business leaders and civil society activists will receive benefits from this programme.
I am happy to offer my sincere blessings and request all concerned extend their fullest corporation for this new venture.
