I write to congratulate you and Samadeepa on the establishment of the South Asian Academy for Good Governance.
The subject of good governance pervades the literature of development. The World Bank has been advocating the importance of good governance to ensure that donor and loan funds are used correctly to relieve poverty.
Civil society is increasingly seen by the donor community as a contributor to good governance. In the first instance civil society must reach exemplary standards in their own governance and when they have achieved this they can rightly take a strong stand in expecting governments to be governed well.
There is much to be done. You have taken on a big but essential task.
I wish you ever success on this most important venture.
