Peace Meditation and Good Governance

We are pleased to inform you that we conduct the above programme at 15 places every year covering 15 days.

Aim of the programme is promoting inter religious understanding, peace, social justice, democracy and good governance. In order to achieve this purpose chanting Truth Binding Oath and taking the voluntary pledge will take place in around 15 places.

In the process civil society leaders will be appointed as Ambassadors for Justice and Proficiency Proved Professional action learning degrees and hony. Titles will be awarded to practitioners in different professions.

In this connection annual session of the Peoples Assembly of Sri Lanka will be held and newly elected office - bearers representing different sectors, ethnic and religious groups and geographical areas will be honoured ceremonially handing over the letters of appointments. 

In the circumstances we invite you to participate in this programme, personally attending, sending a suitable representative or making a financial contribution. We would appreciate if you can make available some of your study material which can be distributed among the participants. Total number of participants in the whole programme will exceed 1000.

We earnestly hope that you will extend your kind co-operation in order to make this programme a great success. We understand this is a massive task and it will be difficult for you to support the whole programme. But we do hope you will try your level best to support us in the best possible way. We will succeed as little drops of water, getting together will make the mighty ocean.

Even if you are not in a position to provide any material assistance we would appreciate your ideas expressing solidarity with us as ideas are more important than anything else in the world.

Civil society awareness and professional empowerment.

Sri Lanka is still facing challenges both locally and internationally. It has not yet been able to    reach a sustainable solution to the ethnic problem and as a result international pressure could be seen in relation to political and economic issues.


Peoples Assembly of Sri Lanka was able to be alive despite serious financial constraints.

Dr. Nirmalan Dhas of Foundation for Civilization Transformation and Conscious Evolution, Colombo initiated a discussion on global warming.

Dr. Mussammil Cader of Samadana(m) Organization, Kandy  conducted a membership survey on non  violent conflict resolution and good governance. Around 300 organizations have been contacted in this process.

An open memorandum written by Dr  Chandra Bandara of Samadeepa Samaja Kendraya - Inc. addressed to leaders of religious institutions, civil society organizations and political parties was published by the PASL.

A booklet on NGO culprits written by Dr  Chandra Bandara of Samadeepa Samaja Kendraya - Inc. was issued for the benefit of genuine CBO / NGO activists.

Way forward

It's a matter for great pleasure that a new leadership, very much broad  based and representing the whole country is emerging in the Peoples Assembly of Sri Lanka with a view to promote peace, social justice, democracy and good governance.
